ABOUT CHARLIE

WHO IS CHARLIE BRUNEL CADIX?
Charlie is a promising young wildlife photographer. At just 16 years old, he passionately explores a variety of natural environments: marshes, secret valleys, windswept coastlines, deep forests and rugged mountains. Whether waiting hours to catch a glimpse of a fox, tracking a deer at dawn, or walking miles alone to find the right light, he pushes the boundaries of his own adventure every day. His practice, marked by patience, observation and a deep respect for living things, demonstrates a determination and sincere commitment to revealing the discreet and fragile beauty of the wild.

THE STORY OF CHARLIE

From a young age, Charlie has always been interested in nature, particularly birds. Reading the book Martin des Colibris, which recounts Martin's adventures and naturalist observations, deeply inspired him and prompted him to further his interest in ornithology. For a year, he also took part in activities at the CPIE in Amiens, an association that raises awareness of the environment through nature outings, workshops and training courses. Without realising it, he gradually became a true nature lover, curious to understand every detail and to preserve it.
At the age of 11, on a whim, Charlie decided he wanted to become a wildlife photographer, a vocation that perfectly combined his two lifelong passions: art and nature. Attentive to his desire, his mother chose to buy him a reflex camera, with financial support from the whole family. What started out as just idle talk quickly turned into a real passion. As soon as he had a free moment, Charlie devoted it to observing and photographing the nature around him, seeking to understand every detail and capture its beauty.

In 2024, Charlie presented his first exhibition at the Hauts-de-France Photo Festival, organised by the association Les Images de Blanche. After three years of working alone, he discovered for the first time how his work was viewed by others. His exhibition was noticed by the local media, including Le Courrier Picard, and two of his photos were sold at auction to raise funds for a charity, marking a turning point in his career as a young wildlife photographer.

HER ARRIVAL IN THE COUNTRYSIDE AND HER BEGINNINGS AS A PHOTOGRAPHER
In 2020, Charlie moved to the French countryside, where his mother set up a goat farm. Around his home, he discovered nature and began to explore the Vallée d'Enfer, a small valley near his home, where he observed deer, foxes and other wild animals for the first time. These memorable encounters awakened in him a real passion for wildlife photography and discovering fauna.
He spends many hours in the field, reading specialist books and meeting experts such as those from Picardie Nature, who help him to deepen his knowledge of local animals and ecosystems. These initial explorations enabled him to complete a photographic project dedicated to the Vallée d'Enfer, showcasing its wildlife and the discreet beauty of this area.

CHARLIE'S PROJECTS
BETWEEN THE TOMBS

For several years, Charlie has been exploring the Madeleine Cemetery in Amiens, a place where silence, memory and nature come together. Behind its motionless appearance, this site steeped in history is home to a discreet but surprisingly rich fauna.
During his visits, Charlie discovered a space suspended between city and nature, where deer, jays and squirrels appear among the graves. His project aims to reveal this hidden life, often overlooked by visitors, and to show how living things continue to flourish in the very heart of a place dedicated to remembrance.
WILD FARM
This photographic project began in Charlie's mother's goat farm, on the edge of a village in the Somme region. It highlights the discreet wildlife that coexists with daily agricultural life, revealing the beauty of a wildness that is often invisible. For several years, Charlie has been exploring the Chèvrerie des Farfadets (Goat Farm of the Elves), a place on the border between human activity and nature, where the unexpected encounter with a fox, an owl, or a falcon testifies to the silent richness of this coexistence.

STEPS FROM THE WILD

Just a stone's throw from the familiar landscapes of Monsures, a discreet wildlife unfolds in the silence of the fields, hedgerows, and woodland edges. Behind this apparent ordinariness lies a fascinating biodiversity, made up of elusive animals and invisible balances. It was here that Charlie, from childhood, found his first field of observation, marked by encounters with deer, foxes, and birds of prey. "Two Steps from the Wild" invites us to look closely at these fleeting moments and to reveal the richness of a living world, present right near us.
PYRENEES
Charlie spent two weeks immersed in the Pyrenees, exploring their silent valleys and ever-changing landscapes. This mountain range, both magnificent and demanding, offered him rare moments where nature reveals itself in all its subtlety.
Through his lens, he captures the wildlife of this region: chamois emerging from the snowfields, grass snakes along the trails, and the majestic flight of griffon vultures. His work offers an intimate look at a specific biodiversity, revealing the beauty of life in this mountainous world.

COASTAL

For several years, Charlie has been exploring the French coastlines, fascinated by their ever-changing landscapes shaped by wind, sand, and light. Through his lens, he reveals the discreet life that unfolds there: plovers on the strandline, gulls in the mist, or seals resting on sandbanks, offering an intimate glimpse into a coastline that is ephemeral yet resolutely alive.
